I first used Facial Oil No 2 because I have very sensitive and problematic skin (acne rosacea) and most products that I have used, including very natural ones have not really helped the situation enough. However I can use Facial Oil No 2 even on the areas of my skin which haven’t had any form of moisturising for years because whatever I used previously would cause or increase breakouts.  The oil is very calming, nourishing and my skin has become so much clearer, smoother and looks so much more healthy.  Rachel, whose knowledge is immense and is incredibly helpful, has also introduced me to Facial Oil No 8 which is slightly lighter for the summer months and is equally as good (and smells just as divine as Facial Oil No 2). 
More significantly, last year I noticed that a blemish/mole I had on my shoulder (visible in my wedding photos 10 years ago) had started to get considerably larger, was quite raised and changing shape. I was also concerned because it was not dissimilar in size and appearance to a blemish on my husband’s back which was diagnosed as a basal cell carcinoma (skin cancer) which he had surgically removed 2 years ago. I applied Facial Oil No 2 to my shoulder, rubbing a small amount in for a minute or two and within about 1 month, to my delight, it had disappeared! I truly wish I had known about Rachel’s oils a few years ago, because not only did my husband have two minor procedures to have the tumour removed, two years later he still has a large scar.  Another blemish appeared on my forehead earlier this year.  It seemed nothing to begin with but as with the blemish on my shoulder, it slowly became more red, raised and started changing shape and was continuing to increase in size. It got to the size of a dilated pupil so I applied Facial Oil No 2 once a day to it and again, within a month it had gone completely!
I cannot recommend these oils enough, not only to those with problematic skin but to someone who is rather concerned by blemishes/moles that are growing and changing. Before going through the stress of seeing your doctor, I really would suggest giving this a try first.  It’s helped me twice and I just wish I could have done the same for my husband’s back.

Mixing It Up

It doesn’t pay to keep on using the same product on our skin indefinitely. To optimise the benefits of FACIAL OIL No. 2 it’s important to mix things up. This is why FACIAL OIL No. 8 is so useful…

I have been using Facial Oil No 2 for a few months and I love it, however, when we had a warm snap a month or so ago I found it too heavy for my skin during the day… possibly a left over anxiety of being an oily skinned person when I was young? Spoke with Rachel about reducing amount or whether there was another alternative. The answer Facial Oil No 8, much lighter, disappeared completely and left my skin feeling fantastic. Result! Facial Oil Application

Place two to four drops of FACIAL OIL No. 2 on the tips of your fingers on one hand.

Replace the pipette firmly in the bottle.

Gentle rub the oil between the tips of the fingers on both hands to warm the oil.

Dab the oil quickly on forehead, cheeks and chin.

Using the full hand, gently rub the oil into the face inhaling deeply as you do.

*Two of the oils are clinically proven to be uplifting when in haled.

MAKE SURE YOU CLOSE YOUR BOTTLE OF FACE OIL FIRMLY TO AVOID DETERIORATION OF THE PRODUCT AND SPILLAGE.

Caring For Your Face Oil

Store in a cool dark place.

Refrigerate wherever possible.

Always firmly close bottle after use.

*Face Oil No. 2 is made with volatile oils. This means they will atomise all on their own, and escape from an improperly sealed bottle. Plus, oxygen causes oxidation, and so if your face oil is left improperly sealed it will significantly reduce the life span of your face oil.

Contraindications

There’s no known contraindications for this oil blend, apart from those concerning nut allergies and, of course, pregnancy and breast feeding. Those taking prescription drugs are advised to consult with their prescribing health professional to check if it is safe to use Wild As The Wind Facial Oils whilst on prescription medication.

People who suffer anaphylaxis in response to nut allergies should not use this oil blend. People with milder nut allergies may want to consider avoiding FACIAL OIL No. 2 as it contains two nut oils.

Also, in our direct experience a very small handful of people, (out of many thousands who have tried it and used it consistently), have had a very mild reaction to this oil blend. These reactions involved either increased warmth of the skin and more pinkness of the skin, sometimes both. In all cases this has been the result of a patch test.

Others, with known intolerances to certain oils within the blend know not to sample the oil in the first instance.

*It is important to proceed with caution with any product if you have known allergies to certain skincare ingredients, even if they are not stated on the bottle. It is permissible in law for skincare manufacturers to omit revealing all of their ingredients.

HOWEVER, WILD AS THE WIND REVEAL ALL OF OUR INGREDIENTS REGARDLESS.

If you aren’t aware of any known intolerances to any of the ingredients in this beautiful oil blend, please just be aware of the following…

The most common essential oil people tend to be intolerant to is Lavender Essential Oil. This is mainly because people have been advised to use Lavender Essential Oil without first diluting it, and have done so for a long time. Somewhat inevitably, and sadly, the result is an intolerance to this beautiful healing essential oil.

Occasionally people have an issue with Geranium Rose Essential Oil, but this is much more rare than problems with Lavender Essential Oil.

FACIAL OIL No. 2 Versus High-End Anti-Ageing Formulas

Many of the most expensive creams and potions share a lot of the ingredients found in FACIAL OIL No.2, but in order to maximise profits, (by limiting waste and extending shelf life of these volatile oils), a lot of chemicals are frequently added into the mix.

These chemicals are often rather toxic, and they are one of the main reasons why Wild As The Wind exists today. We wanted to produce a chemical-free, dermal super-food at an entirely affordable price. And, we are really pleased and gratified that we have done just that.

But even the more innocuous ingredients in the top anti-ageing products present Wild As The Wind with an ethical issue…

Many of these, so called, high-end anti-ageing creams list Aqua as their primary ingredient. This means that water is the ingredient used in the largest quantity within the product.

Aqua does not appear in the FACIAL OIL No. 2 ingredients list at all, because there is NO WATER padding out our facial oils!

Facial Oil For Mature Skin

We talk to a lot of people about their facial skin each week, and we are surprised and dismayed when people tell us things like, “it’s too late for me” or “there’s no point in me getting that”, referring to FACIAL OIL No. 2.

The reality is this is simply not true. FACIAL OIL No. 2 gets rid of fine lines and this makes a big difference. It also improves the tone and colour of the skin, and this also makes a big difference. FACIAL OIL Pricing

Wild As The Wind facial oils would be a lot more expensive if they were supplied through third-party outlets.

Similar products, with reasonably identical ingredients, range from about £75.00 to £150.00 for 30ml, but a lot of these do not have the more costly ingredients like Rose Essential Oil and are also not hand blended like the Wild As The Wind Facial Oils.

*Rose Otto Essential Oil provides many benefits to the skin, as you will read later on in this article, but it takes 1.2 million rose petals to make a mere 10ml of the essential oil. Thus, a small 10ml bottle of Rose Otto, (also known as Rose Damascene), will cost around £300.00+.

NB. If you pay less than £300.00 for 10ml of Rose Essential Oil then you will almost certainly be buying an adulterated essential oil.

*A lot of very high end facial oils are well in excess of £100.00, many of which contain the adulterated version of Rose Essential Oil, mentioned below.

Essential oil adulteration is a massive problem within the idustry, and renders these beautiful oils as toxic as their chemical counterparts. It breaks my heart.

Facial Oil Application

Do not use FACIAL OIL No.2 on uncleansed skin.

We advocate cleansing your face using our hydrosol cleansers as they don’t have the alcohols, parabens and surfactants found in other products which leave harmful residues on the skin. Instead, our hydrosols deliver very healthful moisture to the skin which will be locked in by the FACIAL OIL No. 2.

Surfactants typically found in personal care products are:  

• Sodium lauryl sulphate
• Disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate
• Ammonium laureth sulphate
• Cocoamidopropyl betaine
• Alpha-Olefin sulfonate
• Cocampho-carboxyglycinate

Place approximately two to four drops of the FACIAL OIL No.2 on the tips of your fingers and vigorously rub them together to warm the oil. Raise to your face and open hands in the gesture of a book and inhale deeply a couple of times. Rewarm the oil and then apply it gently to the face in tight circular motions.

Also apply to the neck and décolletage, adding a few more drops if required.

To reap all the benefits of this amazing oil blend apply twice daily after cleansing (preferably with a good hydrosol facial cleanser).

Contraindications

Avoid during pregnancy. Certain ingredients within FACIAL OIL No. 2 act as an emmenagogue, or abortifiicent, which stimulates blood flow in the pelvic area, and could potentially contribute to a number of factors that may induce miscarriage.

Oils such as Rose Essential Oil and Myrrh Essential Oil are contraindicated, with Myrrh Essential Oil being contraindicated whilst breastfeeding.

Geranium Rose Essential Oil is contraindicated during the first trimester of a pregnancy.

Novel Uses Of Face Oil

I do love the oil and have found a new use for it too.    During the winter my hands get very dry and I suddenly had the great idea of rubbing the oil into my hands and wearing cotton gloves.  The difference was amazing and I saw a result in the first few days.
