Palmarosa Essential Oil In Brief
Palmarosa Essential Oil is a deeply healing aromatherapy oil with broad spectrum applications. Excellent for digestive and respiratory health as well as possessing several important skincare applications, especially for mature, oily and problem, acne-prone skin.
Palmarosa Essential Oil balances, hydrates and rejuvenates by stimulating cell regeneration, and regulating sebum production.
Because of it’s geraniol content Palmrosa Essential Oil can, when diluted and applied correctly, stimulate epidermal cellular memory, prompting a repair and regeneration cascade.
Palmarosa Aromatherapy Oil also provides profound emotional and systemic support making it an important comprehensively therapeutic essential oil that deserves a place in everyone’s essential oil collection.
Also known as Indian Geranium Essential Oil, Palmarosa Aromatherapy Oil has a very similar scent to Rose Otto Essential Oil, which is, by contrast to Palmarosa, an incredibly expensive oil. Somewhat unsurprisingly, because Palmarosa Essential Oil is one of the most affordable aromatherapy oils, it is often added to Rose Otto Essential Oil at the production stage to bulk out the volume of this pricey oil resulting in heavily inflated profits for unscrupulous suppliers.

Interesting fact :: It is possible to extract between 1ml and 10ml of Palmarosa Essential Oil from 1kg of plant material
More interesting facts :: Palmarosa Essential Oil is extracted from a grass belonging to the Gramineae / Poaceae family, which also includes Lemongrass and Citronella. However, Palmarosa Essential Oil only contains 5% aldehydes, (Citral), whereas Lemongrass Essential Oil contains c. 65 – 85%, making them very different.
Lemongrass Aromatherapy Oil and Citronella Essential Oil share a lemony scent but Citronella Essential Oil does so owing to a different chemical constituent, Citronellol, at a c. 40% concentration.
Palmarosa Essential Oil is only 1% Citral and 1% Limonene, so there’s only the faintest whiff of citrus to this beautifully floral scented aromatherapy oil. But, because it contains a very high amount of Geraniol, (c. 75% – 85%), also found in Rose Otto Essential Oil at a c. 31% concentration, it has much more in common with this very expensive oil, than others from the same plant family.
