Why Didn’t I Receive Confirmation Of Posting?
This article is part of the Wild As The Wind FAQ Series
I am regularly asked to explain the reasons why people don’t receive an order confirmation email as well as a confirmation of posting email, once their order has been dispatched, when they’ve made a purchase on the Wild As The Wind Shop website.
And, they are often surprised to hear that a order confirmation email is automatically generated and sent out for every single order placed on the Wild As the Wind Shop website. And they are surprised because, if this is the case, then why did’t they receive it?
The situation is slightly different when it comes to confirmation of posting emails as these are not automatically generated. Instead, I have to manually arrange for confirmation of posting emails to be sent out. Sometimes I’m a little slow to do this, but I will eventually get to my computer to initiate the notification process, and in most cases this will happen within a few hours. However, every now and then it may take me up to 24 hours to send the emails, and on a couple of occasions I have been so busy that a full 48 hours have passed before I’ve had a chance to generate the confirmation of posting emails.
However, there are a number of other reasons which can be responsible for the failure of your confirmation of posting email not arriving… and they are often the same reason why the order confirmation emails fail to arrive as well… These are the main ones…
Your confirmation of posting email is in your spam folder
In 90% of all cases the confirmation of posting emails which have gone missing are actually parked up in a spam folder somewhere…
Your confirmation of posting email can end up in your spam folder for a number of reasons, the following two are the main ones…
You checked out as a guest rather than registering an account
If you opt to check out as a guest, rather than registering a Wild As The Wind Customer Account, the chances of your confirmation of posting email going awry is greater than if you register a Wild As The Wind Account.
In the process of creating a Wild As The Wind Shop Account you provide Wild As The Wind with certain non-invasive permissions which will make it easier for your email software to determine that emails from Wild As The Wind are welcome, and thus they won’t be refused entry to your inbox.
When you check out as a guest on the Wild As The Wind Shop website you don’t relay any signals of trust to your email software, or any indication that you’d like to receive emails from Wild As The Wind in future. Thus, when your Wild As The Wind confirmation of posting email is generated for you your email software sees it as an unsolicited email and consigns it to your spam folder.
You registered an account for the first time with your order
The chances of your confirmation of posting email going awry after you set up a Wild As The Wind Customer Account is a lot less likely than if you don’t..
However, if you opt to register an account within the Wild As The Wind Shop when placing your first order you still may have issues receiving your order confirmation email and confirmation of posting email with your order the first time round.
This is because your email software will likely view the first email sent to you from the Wild As The Wind Shop website as an unsolicited email and consign it to your spam folder. And when you don’t open that email the same thing will happen when I initiate the sending of your confirmation of posting email. Only when your email software is satisfied you want to receive emails from Wild As The Wind will it start delivering them to your inbox.
The act of opening an email from Wild As the Wind teaches your email software that you are interested in the contents of that email. Emails which are ignored consistently teach your email software that they are of no consequence and should be repeatedly discarded.
Action required to avoid this:
You can add the Wild As The Wind Shop email address to your email software address book before confirming your first order.
The Wild As The Wind Shop email address is :: info [at] wildasthewind [dot] com
You used a different email address than normal
Before contacting Wild As The Wind about your missing order confirmation and confirmation of posting emails, please make sure you have your facts straight.
Please ensure you have checked your inbox and spam folder for the email account you think the order confirmation and confirmation of posting emails were going to be sent to, and then check the inbox and spam folder of the email account where you think it’s unlikely your missing emails have been sent. In fact, please check all of the possible email addresses you could have used for placing your order before contacting Wild As The Wind.
Only you know how many email accounts you have and what you need to check… Wild As The Wind is not privy to this information.
Using a different email address to the one you think you used is the second most common reason for order confirmation and confirmation of posting emails going awry!
Your confirmation of posting email is in the abyss
Your confirmation of posting email will get lost in the abyss if you mistakenly typed an incorrect email address as part of the order process.
Action required:
There’s actually no action that can be taken to remedy this situation… but you can, at least, try and avoid the same problem next time…
Please double-check that the information you are submitting as part of your order is correct before committing to your purchase.
Thanks.
This will save us both a lot of time in the future and eliminate the need for any confusion around your order.
