There are several Thyme Essential Oil chemotypes. The two most common are Thyme White Essential Oil (Thymol) and Red Thyme Essential Oil (aka Sweet Thyme / Thyme Linalool.
Thyme White is better for respiratory infections and is more antioxidant than some of the other chemotypes, but can be very irritating for the skin, so Red Thyme Essential Oil is best used for hormonal balancing and other treatments where topical application is required.

Wild As The Wind does not recommend ingesting Thyme Red Essential Oil, even though it is deemed safe for internal consumption, when properly diluted. However, Thieves Oil 2020, which contains Thyme Red Essential Oil, can be safely ingested for up to 10 days in very moderate amounts.
